Abstract

Charles Danny (Dan) Anders (1936-1999) was a preaching minister in Churches of Christ in Texas and California. The Charles Danny (Dan) Anders Papers documents the activities of Dan Anders during his tenure as the preaching minister of the Malibu Church of Christ at Pepperdine University from 1985-1998, as well aspects of his study and ministry from 1960-1985. The collection contains correspondence, photos, written and recorded sermons, and his study and research materials.

Abstract

In 1953, the Eastside Church of Christ began in conjunction with Columbia Christian School in Portland, Oregon. The collection includes financial records and other documents related to church business from 1960 to 2006.

Abstract

The collection contain various subject files kept by Marnie Duke Mitze during her time at Pepperdine, from 1992-2019, as a Managing Director and then Chief of Staff. The types of material include correspondence, administrative documents and forms, studies, plans for events and trips, third-party reports, and official Pepperdine pamphlets and CDs related to special events.

Abstract

The collection contains subject files kept by the Office of the Provost, during Darryl Tippens residency as Provost. Though Tippens was only Provost from 2001 to 2014, records date from 1975-2015. The types of material include correspondence, reports, manuals, administrative documents, plans for events and large projects, and general documents about or related to activity at Pepperdine University.

Abstract

Collection consisting of recorded oral history interviews and digitized photographs from elders in the African American community in South Los Angeles. This collection began as a grant-funded Humanities for All Grant from the California Humanities foundation. Individuals were selected who came from a Christian tradition, especially Churches of Christ, and who had some relationship to Pepperdine or its original campus. The project is an ongoing one and materials will continue to be added.

Abstract Jerry Rushford is a historian in the fields of history, religion, and church history. He served as a minister at multiple institutions including Pepperdine University and now serves as the curator for the Churches of Christ Heritage Collection and the Rushford Center for Research at Pepperdine University. Abstract The University Church of Christ (also known as Malibu Church of Christ) began in late February, 1970 in Malibu, California. The congregation has ranged in size from a handful of members to more than 500. The bulk of the collection is made up of bulletins, directories, financial records, correspondence, sermon audio recordings, and meeting minutes ranging in date from 1973 to 2010.
