Abstract The Malibu Tiles Collection contains tiles from Malibu Potteries, a historic Malibu ceramic company which operated in the early 20th century. Abstract

John Merrick was elected Judge of the Malibu/Calabasas Judicial District in 1964 and served on the bench until his retirement in 1986. Judge Merrick was also heavily involved in the community of Malibu from the time he moved there in the 1940s and started a number of important Malibu organizations. This collection contains a range of materials both in format and subject related to his professional life as Malibu's Judge and his work in the Malibu community.

Anne Salenger has been a resident of Malibu's Sunset Mesa since 1970. Salenger served the Malibu Lagoon Museum and the Adamson House in the late 1980s as the Head of Recruitment and Training on the Docent Advisory Council. This collection includes the Malibu Lagoon Museum Docent Manual and related materials that were used in this capacity.

Abstract

Lena Torslow Hansen is a Danish ceramic artist and Scandinavian arts advocate. In 1981,the Franciscan Friars of the Serra Retreat commissioned Torslow Hansen to design installations of fire-salvaged Malibu Tile at the Serra Retreat. This collection documents Lena Torslow Hansen’s work from planning diagrams and research on the Serra Retreat, Malibu Potteries, and the Adamson House at the Serra to photographs of the installed tile.
