Annette and Doris Anderson Family Photographs
Nan and Elmer Carlson Collection of the Malibou Lake Mountain Club
This resource contains the collection of Nan and Elmer Carlson, long-time residents of Malibou Lake Mountain Club. The collection focuses on the history of the club and its surrounding region, the Santa Monica Mountains. Materials include bulletins, newspaper clippings, official club publications, reports, memorabilia, maps, and photographs, as well as Nan's notes and research on various topics of club history.
Jean Samwell Crawford Papers
Jean Samwell Crawford spent time between Los Angeles and her family's cabin called "The Hide-Away" at Malibu Lakeside during the 1930s and 1940s. This collection includes a photograph album, guest books for "The Hide-Away," photographs, and newspaper clippings.
Malibou Lake Mountain Club Records
The Malibou Lake Mountain Club is a private, secluded community in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. The collection contains the Club's administrative files, which are largely member files, containing applications, background checks, and correspondence with each individual member. Also included are Club correspondence, administrative records including president's reports and by-laws, and a collection of Club bulletins. Materials date from 1922 to 2015.
Marnie Duke Mitze Papers
The collection contain various subject files kept by Marnie Duke Mitze during her time at Pepperdine, from 1992-2019, as a Managing Director and then Chief of Staff. The types of material include correspondence, administrative documents and forms, studies, plans for events and trips, third-party reports, and official Pepperdine pamphlets and CDs related to special events.
Ed and Mary Shafer Family Photographs
The Shafer family owned and operated the Cloverleaf Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains from 1946 to 1964, raising cattle and stocking man-made lakes with trout for public fishing. The Shafer land is now part of Malibu Creek State Park. The digital collection contains photographs of the Shafers' ranch, home, and Trout Lakes, as well as two articles about the Shafers' cattle and Trout Lakes, respectively. Materials date from 1948-1961.
Joseph A. Ward Family Photographs of Crags Country Club
From 1941 to 1946, the Ward family served as caretakers of the Crags Country Club, a private club for wealthy Angelenos located in the Santa Monica Mountains. This digital collection features photography of the Ward family living and working on the Crags ranch, as well as images of Hunt House and Las Virgenes School, and behind-the-scenes images of several movies, which were frequently filmed on location at the ranch.
