Abstract

The collection comprises approximately 198 pressed, dried algae specimens collected primarily by Dr. Stephen Davis, distinguished professor of biology at Seaver College, Pepperdine University. The collection dates range from 1975 to 1988. Specimens were collected from locations along the California shore: Malibu Lagoon, Surfrider Beach, Point Dume, Latigo Bay, Bodega Bay and other locations in Sonoma and Monterey counties.

Abstract

The collection includes a wide variety of tourist ephemera relating to Elinor Oswald’s professional career as a tour guide. The bulk of the collection consists of brochures, maps, artist files, travel books, magazine articles, newspaper clippings, itineraries, business records, photographs, slides, negatives, and other materials that helped Elinor plan the tours. The materials date from 1968 to 2009.

Abstract The Eric Wienberg Collection of Malibu Matchbooks, Postcards, and Ephemera chronicles the history of business establishments and sites in Malibu and the surrounding area. The collection covers a period between the late 19th century and the 1980s, and features matchbook covers, postcards, publications, and ephemera from restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels, motels, stores, and other businesses from Malibu, Topanga, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice Beach and Catalina Island....
