Scope and Contents
The Winding Way Church of Christ in Carmichael, California was a merger of two churches, California Avenue Church of Christ and Morse Avenue Church of Christ that took place on August 3, 1980. The collection contains records of both of these previous churches in addition to the Winding Way Church of Christ. The materials have a date range of 1954-2007. The Winding Way Church of Christ closed in 2007. The records include financial statements, office records, real estate transaction records, IRS records, church directories, "Joy Bus" ministry records and photos, business meeting records, Sunday school records, baptismal records, a membership scrapbook, attendance journals, guestbooks, elders meeting minutes, a church seal embosser, and a canvas cash deposit bag.

Biographical/ Historical
The Winding Way Church of Christ in Carmichael, California was the result of a merge between two churches, California Avenue Church of Christ and Morse Avenue Church of Christ, that took place on August 3, 1980. The collection contains records of both of these previous churches in addition to records of the Winding Way Church of Christ. The Winding Way Church of Christ closed in 2007. The church records were given by Richard (Dick) Clothier, a church member who led the closing prayer at the final service of the Winding Way Church of Christ on September 24, 2007. His closing prayer is included in the collection, Box 6, Folder 12. His parents, Ordo and Vida Clothier, were also long-time members of the Churches of Christ in northern California. Photos and biographical information for the Clothier family, and several other members, are available in a church scrapbook in Box 13 of the collection.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
These records were given to Churches of Christ Heritage Collection, Pepperdine Libraries Special Collections and University Archives in January 2017 by Richard (Dick) Clothier, a former member of the Winding Way Church of Christ.
