Peterson and Lauer Family Photo Album
Scope and Contents
This album depicts Inez Lauer's life during the 1940s and 1950s. Images include her grandparents, William and Josephine Lauer, at their cabin in Malibu and at their house in Los Angeles; her daughter Lynn Peterson who was born in 1947; various trips to places like to their cabin at Malibou Lake, San Francisco, Big Bear, Minnesota, Michigan, Sequioa National Park, Griffith Park and their house in Oxnard. Their cabin at Malibou Lake is featured heavily in this album and includes images of both the interior and exterior of the cabin, along with the landscape of Malibou Lake. Additionally, there are a number of photographs of a sail boat race during a sunny day at Malibou Lake in July of 1941.

Biographical / Historical
Inez Lauer, the creator of this album, belonged to a fourth generation Los Angeles family. Her parents, William Lauer and Josephine Lauer both lived in Los Angeles and built a cabin at Malibou Lake as a retreat from the busy city life. William Lauer spent many years in the Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting eventually rising to be the head of the department. Inez married Stan Peterson and the couple had a baby in 1947, Lynn Peterson. Inez and Stan lived in Oxnard during World War II and eventually moved to Ingelwood in the 1950s.

Purchased on Ebay and given to Pepperdine University by Shannon Ggem, Michael Hart, and Marily King in 2019.

Some photographs were returned to the donor upon request.
