Scope and Contents
The collection contains textual material collected by Martha Williamson, the Executive Producer and Head Writer for the award winning television show Touched By An Angel. The show aired for nine seasons from 1994-2003. This collection contains is divided into two series: Subject Files and Scripts. The Subject Files include items including: Charity records; Cast and Crew Stories and Memories; Meeting notes; Correspondence; Events and Awards; Fan Mail Response; Memoranda; Press Publications; Reviews; Updates and phone messages; and Writers' script notes. The Scripts are primarily from the first season but also include the two series finale episodes, as well as the 200th episode, and an untitled spin-off episode.

Biographical / Historical
Martha Williamson was the Executive Producer and Head Writer for the television series Touched by an Angel (1994-2003), which lasted for nine seasons. Touched by an Angel starred award winning actors including Roma Downey, Della Reese and John Dye. Williamson’s work was honored with many awards, including the Freedom Works Award from Congress, the Templeton Prize, the Edward R Murrow Responsibility in Television Award, the Anti-Defamation League’s Deborah Award, and the Producers Guild Nova Award. Through this television show, Williamson addressed many difficult topics, including human rights violations, racism and domestic violence, in order to promote a message of hope and responsibility. She was actively involved with charity work, primarily with organizations fighting against slavery in Sudan, and assisted former Secretary of State Colin Powell with the introduction to his mentoring program, America’s Promise Alliance.

Martha Williamson was the Executive Producer and Head Writer for the television series, Touched by an Angel, where she promoted messages of hope and encouragement to her viewers. Martha Williamson devoted her time to help others, both on television and with charity organizations. This collection includes research, correspondence files, memorabilia, photographs, awards, and periodicals.
Arrangement
Boxes 1 and 2 are divided into two series: Series 1 - Subject Files; Series 2 - Scripts. Boxes 3 - 13 are unprocessed and are arranged by type of material. This includes VHS tapes; research and correspondence files; published materials; photographs and scrapbooks; apparel and memorabilia; plaques, awards, and framed objects; and periodicals.

The collection was donated to Pepperdine Libraries Special Collections and Archives in 2016.
