Biographical / Historical
This deck is considered a deck used for the game 'patience,' so named as it is "regarded as an exercise in patience." These games eventually became known as 'solitaire,' but patience is typically played with two or more players where the goal is to arrange the cards in a systematic order. They are called Fauntleroys as the Jokers represent the character from Frances Hodgson's children's novel "Little Lord Fauntleroy." Research was able to date the publication of the deck to 1929 based on the lot number and revenue stamp.
