Personal Files, 1930s-1990s

The sub-series contains materials related to M. Norvel Young's personal life, including personal correspondence, biographies, articles, programs, and speeches about Norvel's life and experiences, ephemera, notes, and various membership cards and licenses.

Specific areas addressed in the series include notes and papers from throughout Norvel's academic career, programs and bulletins from his alma maters, real estate, Norvel's inauguration as President at Pepperdine, his work on histories of the Churches of Christ and Pepperdine, alcoholism, his appointment to Chancellor Emeritus, his illness in 1996, his sabbatical in 1997, and his memorial service. One file of note contains autobiographical notes and Norvel's hopes for the future written early in his career, perhaps in the 1940s.
